Declaration
Signed by representatives of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Roumania, Spain, Ukraine and Yugoslavia.
We Representatives of Liberal Democratic Movements of European nations at present under totalitarian rule: Declare
1. That Freedom is one and indivisible and that all Europe is in danger of losing its freedom while a single European nation is denied it.
2. That the defence of freedom is the common concern of all men and women. This defence requires the full restoration of the national independence and liberties of the countries now enslaved. Unless this is speedily achieved, the liberties of every free nation will be lost.
3. That the struggle for freedom must be continued and brought to a successful conclusion, whether these countries were enslaved by foreign aggression or by a dictatorship established within them.
We further resolve to set op within the framework of the Liberal International a Permanent Committee of Liberal Democratic Movements of all nations at present under totalitarian rule and to promote co-operation with the Peasant and Socialist International and with the organizations aiming at the free Union of Europe.6
